Bluegrass Jam at Cades Cove

Today, Ryan and I got up early and drove to Cades Cove for Old Timer's Day; a biannual celebration of the people that used to live in the area before the parks department took it over. Ryan met his band, Brandywine, consisting of Cecil and Pam Thomas and himself, under a tree in the Cable Mill Area and played from 10:30am-1:30pm. Boy! Their fingers were sore when they finally stopped!

Here is Cecil and a couple other men that joined in their song.

Cecil singing!

Their adoring fans!

While they played, I wandered off and took a few photos of the scenery.

We had a really fun day together and managed to get on the road right before a rain shower passed through. We can't wait to go back again in the Spring with Frank!

Baby Knits and More

So ever since I found out that I was pregnant,  I have been busily creating a wardrobe for Frank to have after his arrival in the cold of winter. Take a look at all the new garments he will have to model when he comes!
A hat and booties for the cold ride home from the birth center.

A blanket to match his hat and booties.
A wrap style sweater.
A sweater that will get a toggle button on the front.
A baby alpaca sweater. Its sooo soft!

I have 4 friends that are also pregnant too! So of course I'm making sure they are taken care of too! Here are some of the things I have made for them.
A ballet sweater for my best friend Jenn, due in October.
A super soft stuffed elephant!

A soft cotton and angora dress for Jenn's little girl, Kennedy Graham.
Another stuffed elephant, felted. I don't know what I'm gonna do with this one.
A pale green baby blanket for my neighbor, her's is a boy too!

In addition the baby stuff, I have recently finished some stuff for me too.

My new Christmas stocking. Its a deep purple and cream.
A green hat with a button band.
Cozy, long, purple fingerless gloves.

This is all I have finished so far but I have more works in progress. Thanks for looking at my projects. Check back in a couple weeks to see what else I finish!

Ice Cream Break

Today, Angie and I went to a child's birthday party and a wedding. Somehow we managed to not get cake at either. So after we got home, I had quite the sweet tooth. So I suggested we take a trip down to the new Bruster's Ice Cream Shop in Rocky Hill.

We decided to take Rosie with us since she LOVES riding in the car and since Bruster's gives their canine patrons a free small scoop with a doggy biscuit.

Here's Rosie waiting patiently for her ice cream treat.

What a good dog!  And here I am enjoying a very tasty Oreo Shake!

Yum!!! Angie and Rosie both liked their treats. Angie had cake batter ice cream in a waffle cone.

Rosie ate her treat a little too fast, so I had I share my milkshake with her.

And of course, Frank enjoyed all the treats as well.

Registering!

Today we went to Babies "R" Us to register for "must have" baby items. Being new parents, Angie and I have none of the things we'll need once Frank shows up in January.

Armed with this nifty laser pistol, Angie and I took out across the store using our complete lack of knowledge of child items to choose exactly what we "must have".

Here's Angie checking our list while I shoot bar codes with laser precision!

Then I let Angie handle the laser for a bit.

All the shopping made us tired, so we took a rest in this awesome gliding rocker...
...which we also registered for.

While I continued to rest, Angie took off with the gun and grabbed a few more things to add to the list.

Finally, after about 2 1/2 hours, we were complete. Believe me, this gator wasn't the only one that was happy!

And in case you were wondering, here's a link to our registry.

Frank's Ultrasound

Yes sir, that's my baby!

Frank's New Clothes

Today our good friend Jessie Bailin stopped by with a gift. With the help of Tony Noel, she was able to create a Red Arrow onesie and bib for Frank. We can't wait for him to arrive so we can dress him up in his new outfit!

Thanks so much Jessie! We love it! Rosie enjoyed Jessie's visit as well!
